UHAI For Health Fundraiser 2025: A Night of Culture, Community, and Celebration
On a vibrant evening that brought together joy, purpose, and unity, UHAI For Health hosted its much-anticipated Annual Fundraiser, a night that will remain etched in the hearts of everyone in attendance. The event welcomed guests from across Worcester’s diverse African communities—and beyond—including special dignitaries and long-standing partners who came to celebrate and support our mission of building healthier futures for underserved populations.
Held in the heart of Worcester, the atmosphere was electric with cultural pride and community spirit. Among our esteemed attendees was Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, whose presence reinforced the strong ties between public service and community health advocacy.
🎭 A Celebration of Culture and Connection
The night began with a stunning fashion show that spotlighted the beauty, elegance, and diversity of African fashion, blending East and West African styles in a colorful and captivating display. The rich aromas of authentic East and West African cuisine filled the air, offering guests a culinary journey across the continent.
🗣️ Voices That Inspired
The evening’s speakers brought powerful messages of hope, resilience, and shared responsibility. The Chair of UHAI’s Board, William Lemnios, opened the evening with heartfelt reflections on UHAI’s journey and impact. Dr. Mercy Kamau, our guest speaker, captivated the audience with her dynamic speech that stirred emotions and sparked important conversations on health equity.
We were deeply honored to have Anthony Mathu, Washington Maina, and Faith Mwaniki as our guests of honor—each of whom shared uplifting words that highlighted the strength and vibrancy of the African diaspora in Massachusetts.
A touching moment came when Jane’s niece delivered a moving recovery message, reminding us all of the personal stories that lie at the heart of UHAI’s mission.
💬 Words of Praise from Community Leaders
Guests such as Jennifer Nakijoba, Chief of Community Health at the Worcester Division of Public Health, commended UHAI’s unwavering commitment to the community and praised the event for bringing people together in a celebration of culture and public health.
The night closed with warm gratitude from Jane Kimani, UHAI’s CEO, who delivered the vote of thanks and recognized every supporter, speaker, volunteer, and guest who helped make the evening so memorable.
